Quips, Quotes and Quantum Leaps
OCTOBER
Big thanks to everyone who responded so enthusiastically to our inaugural monthly newsletter! We hope you continue to enjoy these quips, quotes and quantum leaps.
It’s a critical moment in time, friends. Politics fills the air and the collective psyche. In that regard, I’ve got one word of advice: Vote! Vote! Vote!
Vote for the birds, the bugs, the reptiles, the rabbits, the trees, the grasses, the bison, the salmon, the whales, the elephants: Vote for the lions and tigers and bears, oh my; and for the fox who goes out on the town-o, town-o; vote for Kermit the frog and for Big Bird; vote for Ganesha and Hanuman and for all the divine beings who live in our myths and poetry. Vote for peace and for the future; vote for evolution and all the possibilities it holds. VOTE!
When voting you might call to mind all of the beings who have contributed to life itself and the wonder of consciousness that we now embody. To further aid in your review I offer an article entitled “Ancestors of Awakening.” Kermit the frog approves of this message.
Meanwhile, I dug into the archives and found a video clip from a performance in 2007, back when we thought we’d hit rock bottom with a second term of George W. Some of the suggestions for how to reform our political life are still relevant.
One thing our government needs is a Department of Wisdom – an agency staffed by philosophers, poets, mystics, and even a few jesters. The Department of Wisdom would keep the various so-called “intelligence” agencies in check, creating a true balance of powers.
It’s impossible to talk about the future of humanity and life on earth without talking about climate change, in particular global warming. Which inevitably brings me around to the Buddha’s fire sermon, where he declares that everything is burning. In fact, “nirvana” means “no fires.” Meditation may be exactly what humanity needs right now. It’s time to chill.
So friends, stay in touch with any requests, complaints or revelations. Stay awake, stay connected, stay amazed, and now, more than ever, if you don’t like the news go out and make some of your own.
